Anti-Wrinkle Injections

The treatment uses a purified form of botulinum toxin that blocks nerve signals to the muscle. When injected precisely, this causes the targeted muscle to relax, softening lines in areas such as the forehead, frown lines and crow’s feet.

By targeting the muscles of facial expression, these muscles start to exert less of an effect on the overlying skin. This helps to prevent repeated creasing of the skin, allowing for a gentle softening of those strong, expressive lines.

In people who have developed a mild etching of these facial expression lines (known as ‘static lines’), the use of neurotoxin can help to improve and soften their appearance and help to slow down progression into deeper lines.

In those with severe etching or static lines, the injections will not be able to reverse these, however it can prevent them from progressing.

In those with highly expressive facial muscles, where the lines are currently only visible on movement, the use of neurotoxin can have a preventative effect on the development of facial wrinkles. In other words, it can stop dynamic lines from progressing into static lines.

You will undergo a full medical consultation before proceeding to determine the most suitable treatment regimen for you.

The treatment involves a series of small injections into the target muscle, placed in carefully mapped areas. The treatment itself is over in a matter of minutes.

Patients find they are able to continue their day as normal with no downtime.

Results begin to appear within 3-5 days and reach maximal effect by 2 weeks.

If at that point you feel like you would like a bit of a stronger effect then we would be delighted to see you for a complimentary review and if indicated, administer a complimentary dose adjustment.

For safety reasons this can only be done within 2-4 weeks of your initial treatment.

Conversely, if your movement feels a little bit tight or heavy initially, then rest assured that after the 2nd week everything just settles into a natural result.

Results last around 3-6 months and gradually wear off: repeat treatments maintain results

Although these injections have near to no downtime, there are a few things we will advise you to do post-treatment, to ensure your results settle as well as possible.

• Avoid exercise for 24 hours after treatment
• Avoid excessive heat for 24 hours after treatment
• Avoid rubbing or massaging the area for 24 hours after treatment
• Avoid use of make-up over the puncture sites for a minimum of 6 hours; ideally wait until the following day
• Mild redness or small bumps may occur and settle quickly
