What Is Morpheus8 RF Microneedling?
Have you ever wondered if you could tighten and smoothen your skin without surgery? Enter Morpheus8, a type of radiofrequency (RF) microneedling that pairs ultra-fine needles with heat energy to stimulate collagen and elastin deep in the skin for firmer, more even texture. It’s a fractional treatment, meaning we treat a grid of tiny zones while leaving surrounding skin intact to support faster healing and shorter downtime.
Uniquely, Morpheus8 is classified as a Subdermal Adipose Remodelling Device (SARD). In plain English, it can reach the dermis and even the superficial fat layer just beneath the skin to contract and remodel tissue, supporting subtle contouring as well as surface refinement. The treatment is incredibly customisable, meaning that depending on the specific concern and area we are aiming to address, we can adjust treatment depth and energy delivery to offer a treatment that is both safe and impactful.
“More meaningful tightening and texture improvement with customisable depth and energy, precisely where your skin needs it.”
Who Is Morpheus8 For? Benefits and Realistic Outcomes
If you’re noticing early laxity, fine lines, enlarged pores or acne scarring, and you want a non-surgical, regenerative approach, Morpheus8 could be a strong fit. By driving collagen remodelling (breaking down disorganised collagen and rebuilding healthier fibres), it improves skin structure over time for smoother texture, refined pores and better elasticity. Patients often seek a tighter jawline/neck and a fresher, glow-boosting look with less downtime than surgery, and dermal fillers or injectable biostimulators can only go so far to achieve this.
RF energy is colour-blind, unlike lasers, it isn’t absorbed by melanin, making Morpheus8 suitable for most skin types. Insulated needles further protect the epidermis by delivering energy deeper where it’s needed. Because the energy is delivered below the surface, the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) is generally lower than with many resurfacing lasers, which is reassuring for darker skin tones.
We believe in honest, patient-first guidance. Morpheus8 is best for mild-to-moderate concerns; it refines and firms but doesn’t replace surgical lifting for severe laxity. Expect noticeable softening of lines, subtle lifting and improved texture, not a facelift in a device.
How It Works: The Science Simplified
Morpheus8 creates vertical micro-injuries while delivering targeted RF heat into the dermis, the supportive layer beneath the surface, so collagen fibres contract and, during healing, new collagen and elastin are laid down. This process is called neocollagenesis (new collagen), neoelastogenesis (new elastin), and it also upregulates natural hyaluronic acid, helping skin look bouncier and more hydrated over time.
Because energy is concentrated deeper in the skin (helped by insulated needles that release heat at the tip rather than the surface), the epidermis (the skins top layer) is less disrupted, so downtime is typically shorter compared with fully ablative treatments such as CO2 lasers. The RF heat induces thermal coagulation in a controlled “cone” beneath each needle entry, which tightens existing collagen and signals the body to remodel and rebuild fresh, supportive tissue for smoother, firmer skin.
Why does depth control matter? It lets us target the right layer for your goals, more superficial for texture and pores, deeper for tightening or subdermal remodelling, while protecting the surface. That precision is the engine behind Morpheus8’s clinically proven results.
At Dr. Jenny Clinic, we offer the latest, most sophisticated iteration of this technology: Morpheus8 Burst and Morpheus8 Burst Deep, which allow energy to be delivered at multiple skin depths in a single pass, for more efficient and powerful results.
What Concerns Can We Treat with Morpheus8?
Versatility is one of Morpheus8’s greatest strengths. On the face and neck, we can treat the forehead, delicate eyelids/periorbital area, cheeks, around the mouth, jawline and chin, particularly helpful for early jowling and lower-face definition. A specialised 12-pin “Prime” tip allows precise work around the eyes where skin is thinnest.
Beyond the face, the body applicator reaches deeper tissues to firm and smooth areas like the abdomen (post-pregnancy or weight-loss laxity, stretch marks), arms, knees, thighs and buttocks. Interchangeable tips mean we tailor each pass to tissue thickness and sensitivity, optimising comfort and outcomes.
Conditions We Can Treat:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Skin laxity (mild to moderate)
- Uneven skin tone or texture
- Acne scarring
- Enlarged pores
- Loss of facial contour or jawline definition
- Localised fat under the chin or on the body
Your Treatment Journey: Consultation to Course Plan
We start with a comprehensive, clinician-led consultation: medical history, skin assessment and photos. This lets us individualise depths, energy, and areas to focus on: your bespoke plan.
Morpheus8 can be performed as a standalone treatment or combined with regenerative therapies such as exosomes or polynucleotides.
On the day, we apply topical anaesthetic for comfort. You may feel short bursts of stinging, heat or pressure but any discomfort is very short-lived. Most people resume normal activities within 24-48 hours (some redness or puffiness is expected). A typical protocol involves 3-4 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart, followed by annual maintenance to keep results fresh. We may adjust this based on skin type, concern and response.
There are certain contraindications, which will be discussed during any consultation, however, full contraindications can be found on the treatment page here (check the FAQ section!)
Possible Side Effects and Risks
Most side effects are short-lived: redness, mild swelling and occasional pinpoint bruising settle within a few days. Tiny crusts may form at entry sites and flake away within a week. Skin can feel warm or “sunburnt” for 24–48 hours, and mild dryness or flaking may occur as it renews, soothing topicals e.g. Aquaphor will help soothe the skin.
As with any procedure, rarer risks include infection, burns or scarring, especially if aftercare is not followed or if treatment is done with unregulated devices. Pigment changes (lighter or darker patches) are uncommon but possible, strict sun protection reduces this risk.
